Portraits in the garden

Portrait photography has been an important part of my work for over twenty years. My portrait photographs can be found in clients' homes, magazines, on book covers and websites. I create portraiture for private clients, my own art projects, editorial and commercial clients.

For private clients

There is nothing formal, artificial or awkward about being photographed professionally. My photo sessions are a natural and relaxed experience. I think of a photo session as a chat amongst friends. We talk, discover the garden together, we find the patches that appeal most to you and we take advantage of each season’s most evocative moments.

In my photographs I want to portray the real, relaxed, natural you. There won’t be any artificial poses. We take all the time we need. My portrait photography is all about gently getting to know each other. You will soon forget that you are being photographed.

My photo sessions are ideal for individuals, couples and small families. If you want to bring a pet member of the family, they are welcome in my garden, too.

The Location

My preferred setting is my own garden. The garden, situated in Wiltshire, England, near Devizes, is to a large part beautifully secluded and therefore ideally suited to my work.

It’s all about you

No two photo sessions are the same because no two people are identical. I prepare for every photo session individually.

It will help me to prepare if I know a little about who you are as a person. I will ask you about any ideas that you may already have (if you don’t, that’s okay, too) and specific requirements. We will also discuss clothes (and props, if any) beforehand.

You are more than welcome to bring a friend or partner as a chaperone. You do not have to but I positively encourage you to do so.

Best times in the year

Every season has its own character and its own appeal. The best times of the year are when the garden is lush and overflowing from late spring to autumn and full of texture and structures as the warm autumn light fades and crisp winter mornings greet us.

Travel

For travel by car there is off-street parking at my property. If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is a relatively short taxi ride away.

If you are coming from further afield and are considering an overnight stay, there are hotels and B&Bs in and around nearby Devizes.

After the photo session

Within a few days after the photo session you can see your photographs on a private, password protected page on my site.

Without a doubt, the most beautiful way of displaying photographs is as framed prints on the walls of your home. Your prints are crafted individually in-house by myself to exhibition standard, using the finest archival quality photographic materials. Every print is an original.

Another option is a beautiful, bound coffee table style photobook of the very highest quality.

For on-screen viewing I can produce a set of digital files for you.
