Nude portraits have always been a very important part of my work. In 2018 I resolved to no longer run a studio. All my portrait and nude portrait photography is now made in my garden - my nature studio. The results from not working in the studio but in the garden are hugely rewarding.

My nude portraits are a natural extension of my portrait photography. Nude portraits are a way of showing yourself without disguises and pretence. I want to capture the essence of a person, their inherent beauty, the spell of a moment and how people relate to each other and their surroundings. The photography is as natural as my garden.

Most of us love to feel the air on our skin, partly because it is a truly liberating experience and partly, perhaps, because we feel that it is not normally permitted.

My nude portraits in the garden are created in my own garden in Wiltshire, England. The garden is beautifully secluded and therefore ideally suited to my work.

None of us are perfect - so you do not have to be. Nor do you have to be young or consider yourself conventionally ‘beautiful’ to be attractive. Nude portraits are a wonderful way of appreciating your own body at any stage in life.

The photo session - All about you and for you

There is nothing artificial, awkward or embarrassing about being photographed nude. My photo sessions are a natural and relaxed experience. I think of a photo session as a chat amongst friends. We talk, discover the garden together, we find the spots that appeal most to you and we take advantage of each season’s most evocative moments.

I do not want to create a glossy version of you that bears no resemblance to reality but to portray the real, relaxed, natural you. I won’t ask you to take off your clothes the moment you arrive. We start off with some clothed portraits. You only take off what you want to when you are ready. There is no pressure to pose in any way you do not want to. You won’t be stared at and you won’t be judged. We take all the time we need. You decide how outrageous or shy you want to be. You will soon forget that you are being photographed. And if you change your mind about undressing at the last moment, that’s okay too.

No two photo sessions are the same because no two people are identical. I prepare for every photo session individually. It will help me to prepare if I know a little about who you are as a person. I will also ask you about any ideas that you may already have (if you don’t, that’s okay) and specific requirements. We will also discuss clothes (and props, if any) beforehand.

You are more than welcome to bring a friend or partner as a chaperone. You do not have to but I positively encourage you to do so.

Best times in the year

Every season has its own character and its own appeal. From late spring to autumn the garden is lush and overflowing. Texture and structures become a feature as the warm autumn light fades and crisp winter mornings greet us.

The garden is usually ready to act as a stage from late May or early June until January. Of course, temperatures can be an issue when we shed our clothes. We’ll make sure you have something to wrap yourself in between shots.

Travel

For travel by car there is ample and easy off-street parking at my property. If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is a relatively short taxi ride away.

If you are coming from further afield and are considering an overnight stay, there are hotels and B&Bs in and around nearby Devizes.

After the photo session

Within a few days after the photo session you can see your photographs on a private, password protected page on my site. Your photographs will, of course, always remain completely private.

Without a doubt, the most beautiful way of displaying photographs is as framed prints. Your prints are crafted individually in-house by myself to exhibition standard, using the finest archival quality photographic materials. Every print is an original.

Another option is a beautiful, bound coffee table style photobook of the very highest quality.

For on-screen viewing I can produce a set of digital files for you.
