'Symmetry' Limited Edition Prints
Limited edition prints from my project Symmetry are now available to buy.
Symmetry uses a process of deconstruction and subsequent reconstruction to question our perception of what is real. The series also communicates an environmental message. Read more about this project and see the photographs here.
The paper, which carries a work of art, influences the way, in which we experience the work. It is not just a supporting medium in the background but becomes a physically and intellectually inseparable part of the finished object.
For this edition I have chosen A2 sized Kozo paper from Awagami, a Japanese paper mill. Traditional Japanese papermaking uses fibres — in particular Kozo — that are much longer than the fibres used in Western papermaking. This produces elegant paper that is thin, crisp and delicate yet very strong. I have chosen this paper because it supports the message of this project and also because I wanted to challenge Western preconceptions that only thick paper is good paper. Prints are produced in-house by myself, as always, and produced as a limited edition of only three for this series. They are numbered and signed and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Print sales are handled by Saatchi Art.
