Night Sky

It gives me great pleasure to announce the publication of a major new project, Night Sky.

The photographs in this series are an experiment with the accumulation of time and light: Long exposures create a new reality and comment on the relativity of time. The images visualise the passing of time by compressing it and making a period of time viewable in an instant. The photographs are therefore studies of a period of time rather than a snapshot of a moment in time.

Long exposures accumulate tiny amounts of light over a period of time and show a scene more brightly than can be seen with the naked eye. This reality is normally hidden from our view.

The series is part of my ongoing investigations into our perception of reality.
