Fog Two

Instant, personal(ised) and impermanent landscapes

How we perceive reality is a central theme in my work. In this series I have used fog to hide what is normally visible. This allows the viewer to imagine what the scenery should look like, creating instant, personal(ised) and impermanent landscapes.

Muted visual stimuli heighten our senses. The viewer is no longer the passive observer of a resolved picture but the creator of a moment in time, an imaginary scenery, which only exists once in the mind, which is impermanent and not reproducible. The question is always the same: “What do we see when we look?”

This series consists of thirteen black & white photographs, which were conceived in one day close to where I live. Fog Two is so-called because I also used fog in a project eight years previously, The Lost Silence of the Land.
