The Destruction of a Village
This book was created in 2010 in response to proposals to turn a part of the village, where the artist lives, into a quarry. The aim was to create a document of what the Council (local government) were proposing to destroy. The final section of the book comprised portraits of local residents with their reasons for objection to the proposals.
Several years have passed since the events and some of the people are no longer with us. The photographs, however, are still relevant today: The motives (financial gains by means of destruction) and the reaction (solidarity in protest) are enduring.
In the event, the proposals were withdrawn.
