When proposals were published to turn (part of) the village, where I live, into a quarry, I published a book with a series of photographs of the area to document what the Council (local government) were proposing to destroy. The final section in the book, and the one shown on this page, comprised portraits of local residents with their reasons for objection to the proposals.
Even though several years have passed since the events and some of the people are no longer with us, the photographs are still relevant: The motives (financial gains by means of destruction) and the reaction (solidarity in protest) are enduring.
In the event, the proposals were withdrawn.
